What is the difference between used, refurbished and reconditioned transformers?
A used or second-hand transformer may be offered in its existing condition, whereas a refurbished or reconditioned transformer has undergone inspection, necessary restoration, servicing and electrical testing before being offered for further service. The extent of work varies by unit and condition. INDULF does not supply transformers simply in as-removed condition; every unit is assessed and prepared according to its requirements before dispatch.
How long does a refurbished transformer last?
Service life depends on the condition of the core, windings and insulation, as well as loading, operating conditions and maintenance. A properly assessed and refurbished transformer, operated within its rated parameters and maintained correctly, can provide many further years of service. For this reason, technical condition and suitability matter more than age alone.
What testing is carried out on refurbished transformers before dispatch?
Every transformer is electrically evaluated before dispatch, with the scope of testing determined by the unit's rating, voltage class, configuration and condition. Applicable test results are provided with the transformer.
What warranty applies to refurbished transformers?
Qualifying refurbished transformers carry an INDULF warranty of up to 24 months. Warranty duration and applicable terms are determined for each unit based on its condition, rating and application, and are stated clearly in the quotation.
How much does a refurbished transformer cost compared with a new transformer?
The price of a refurbished transformer depends on its rating, voltage class, manufacturer, age, condition, configuration and the restoration work required. In many applications, refurbished equipment can offer a significant cost advantage over new equipment, while also providing considerably shorter procurement timelines.
Do you supply refurbished transformers outside India?
Yes. INDULF supplies refurbished transformers across India and for international requirements. Where required, units can be evaluated and configured to suit the destination system, including voltage ratio, frequency, vector group, tap range and terminal arrangement. Export feasibility, testing requirements and warranty terms are assessed according to the destination and application.
